Obstructive Sleep Apnea: The Not-So-Silent Killer

I see it every week in my clinic: a patient comes in fatigued, complaining about being sleepy all day. His blood pressure is mildly elevated, and his wife is sitting next to him, just as tired, because "his damn snoring keeps me up allllll night!" After collecting a little more history, the root of the problem is relatively obvious. He likely has obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which gets confirmed shortly after by a formal sleep study. This disease is all too common these days, especially among strength athletes, and is no joke. In my Meathead Minute this week, I go into a little more depth about some risk factors for sleep OSA, and why if you're worried, you should go get checked out. Give it a watch!
